The seminar involves 15 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes of discussion. I focus on the story of how the tariff-growth paradox for the first globalization vanishes once we distinguish between political tariff changes and market-induced tariff changes in price and composition. Since I expect the discussants to be also heavily interested in sources and data harmonization, I have prepared a set of slides on this for the discussion.
